Paxton Farm CDI Has Sunny Spirits Under Stormy Skies

Cesar Parra and Galant du Serein Rack Up Another Victory

In the Grand Prix, there were many rather tense tests, and the scores were lower than competitors would have hoped. A disappointed Barisone while the highest placed US rider, finished third with a 64.667. Hoping to better his average Barisone headed for the Ohio CDI at Paxton Farm, but today was not their day.

While the talented 11-year-old KWPN gelding by Haarlem showed his brilliance in extensions and passage work, he missed his changes, and did not have clearly defined pirouettes.

Barisone knew when he watched the scoreboard as he left the arena the news was not great.

This opened the door for Dr. Cesar Parra on Horses Unlimited’s Selles Francais stallion by Apache d’Adriers Gallant du Serein, who looking better than ever under the tutelage of Volker Moritz deserved the win, with fluent piaffe-passage transitions, and a stronger uphill frame earned the winning score of 67.250.

Parra, who is qualified for the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany in August, represents his home country of Columbia.

Both Parra and Barisone have been in transition making the move from Florida to their respective facilities in New Jersey, near Gladstone where they train and work with clients in the summer months.

In second place in the Grand Prix was Canadian Jon Costin on his own young 10-year-old Hannoverian by Warkant showing talent and promise for the future.

The last to go in the class, just as the skies let loose with another round of rain, earned a with a 64.875 from the judges’ panel of Ms. Maribel Alonzo de Quinzanos, Marianne Cunningham, Cara Whitham, Janet Foy, and Gary Rockwell.
