Under stormy skies a busy show with a full roster of entries kicked off Thursday with the CDI Horse Inspection. A large CDI division of 40 horses were presented to the ground jury, as the festivities began. The usual Canadian contingent, as well as American competitors has traveled to the beautiful facility in Batavia, Ohio, just a short jaunt north of the Kentucky border seeking needed qualifying scores for US and Canadian Championships coming up later in the season.
Also featured at the Paxton Farm 2006 CDI***/Y Cincinnati is the first of three USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection Trials for the FEI World Breeding Championships in Verden, Germany, for the Central United States. The Eastern Selection Trials will be held June 2-4 at the Capital Dressage Classic, June 2-4, in Raleigh, NC, and for the Western Division, Dressage at Flintridge, May 26-28, in La Canada, California.
Responding to the critical need for CDI competitions in the United States, particularly in the Midwest, the Paxton family continues to provide their premier facility for Dressage, which is also featuring their Spring Classic I and II show. Jackie Paxton who has been living, training, and competing in Germany has returned to help, and to be with her Mom, Janet Paxton, organizer and event director for Mother’s Day. Located close to the Kentucky Horse Park, Paxton Farm will certainly be a consideration for teams looking for a facility in the USA for the upcoming 2010 FEI Games in Kentucky.
An all star roster of judges and officials are bundled in their booths, covering the five full rings of competition. President of the Ground Jury is Cara Whitham “O” from Canada. Other judges include Lois Yukins (I), Anne Gribbons (I), Gary Rockwell (I), Janet Foy (I), Jane Weatherwax (I) from the USA, and Lorraine McDonald (I) from Canada, and Maribel Alonso de Quinzanos from Mexico.
