The Paragon CDI*** Competition in Estes Park, Colorado started with temperatures in the high 40's on the first day of competition. With sponsorship from HorseShow.com, High Point awards were presented in the newly named HorseShow.com International Arena. Horses were quite fresh early in the morning. By the time Devon Wycoff, the first CDI rider came down center line at 10:00 am, the temperatures were a pleasant 60 degrees. Officials include Lilo Fore of California, Natalie Lamping of Florida and Lorraine MacDonald of Canada. Lloyd Landkamer of Minnesota in the FEI Steward. The Grand Prix was won by Fabrioso,ridden by Jenny Baldwin of Niwot, Colorado. His average score from the panel of International judges was a 64.645%.Fabrioso is a 13 year old Hanoverian gelding by Federweisse. He stands 18.0 hands and is owned by Virginia Carr. Second place went to Shannon Dahmer with Rock On, a 15 year old Oldenberg by Cosinus owned by Mary Allyn. Mary and Shannon are from Aurora, Colorado.
The CDI Young Rider class had one first time rider and one current NAJYRC Gold Medalist. Devon Wycoff and Power Play won the Team Test with a 66.316%. Morgan Fleming rode in her first CDI with her 26 year old mount Mon Cher. Mon Cher is owned by Greta Vowell.
Taking the Prix St. George with her first CDI win was Stephanie Busley with her own Peteta. She is a 12 year old Hanoverian mare by Pomroy. She was also the high score of the CDI today with a 66.686%.
Placings changed on the second day of competition August 19 in the small tour with Allison Dechant Nimmo and her own Regulus 24 winning the Intermediare I with a 67.019%.
Her score gave her the High Score CDI Ride and made her the winner of the Horseshow.com scrim sheet.
Close behind in second place was Jessica Greer with Navarro. Jessica rode Joy Lanzano's gelding to a 66.140%. Yesterday's winner in the Prix St. George, Stephanie Busley had to settle for third place with a 66.096%
Stephanie was thrilled with her award for the 'best shadbelly' award! She had just purchased a custom coat from Total Equestrian Services. The dark blue coat has lovely gray velvet points and collars.
Judge at "C", Lilo Fore commented on the quality of the horses and training and said "it is too bad they all made small mistakes in one movement which lowered their scores. Overall it was a wonderful class to judge and quite close!."
NAYRJC Gold Medalist Devon Wycoff again won the Young Rider Competition, scoring a solid 66.272% in the Individual Test. Devon was "pleased with the test, he felt a bit tired, but I was very surprised when he stopped before the second pirouette, as the first one was amazing!Then I just couldn't get it back together for the flying change, but the rest of the test was great!"
Jenny Baldwin and Fabrioso again won the Grand Prix Division,with a 66.040% in the Grand Prix Olympic Special. Jenny was "very happy with the test, and today he piaffed better and some of the trot work was really a solid. I also got a lot of good scores for the passage today!"
Tomorrow there will be a Sunday Brunch that will be a benefit for the "Hearts and Horses Theraputic Riding Program" based in Loveland, Colorado. About 100 people will be in attendance to watch the national and CDI freestyle competition in the Horseshow.com International arena.
