Lexington, VA — After several years together, Lynnette Jacobs and her horse, Entero VDI, have developed an enviable partnership that was demonstrated by their accomplishments at the 2015 International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) National Championship Show in Lexington, Virginia. Entero VDI himself shone brilliantly enough to win the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award, an award presented by leading equine supplement company Omega Alpha to horses who exemplify great health.
Jacobs and Entero placed in the top five in several classes, and were named Grand Champion in the National Championship USDF Dressage Sporthorse Prospect in Hand (All Geldings, All Ages), and Reserve Champion in the National Championship AL/Half Andalusian Hunter Hack and the National Grand Championship AL Senior Geldings Four Years & Over.
To Jacobs, the greatest success of the IALHA National Championships came in the English Hack class. “Entero rode his heart out for me in that class,” she said. “He gave extensions in his gaits like I’ve never felt from him before, the most subtle of half halts were recognized, and he and I were working as a team.” Jacobs attributes her recent success to what she describes as “a lot of elbow grease.” With time and effort the pair have grown into quite the team, with Entero’s health and fitness shining in the arena.
“Over the last couple years, we have trained basic dressage work to encourage Entero to stretch, relax his poll, and use his hind for proper engagement,” she said. “As a result, he has developed his topline, his muscling has increased in his hindquarters, and his suppleness has increased immensely.”
Jacobs’ commitment to good horse care and training is what keeps Entero in such great shape and earned the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award at this year’s IALHA National Championship Show. Jacobs and Entero received a commemorative Healthy Horse Award ribbon and prize basket full of Omega Alpha health products, a hat, and a commemorative fly scrim. Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a leading equine supplement manufacturer in Canada and is quickly becoming a favorite in the U.S. with its natural equine products developed with research-based science.
While not a previous user of Omega Alpha products, Jacobs says she looks forward to using the Chill Ultra calming paste to see if it will impact Entero’s nerves. “Entero is a strong, powerful minded horse, with the confidence level of a mouse,” she said. “The goal has always been for him to allow himself to trust me.” With one more successful show under their belts, a blossoming partnership, and a bounty of new Omega Alpha products to try, Jacobs and Entero can look forward to even more achievements in future show rings.
