Olympic Ferro back in shape at CDI Donaueschingen

Finally Olympic Ferro has regained that excelling level of dressage he showed at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome. While the KWPN Ulft descendant made his international debut in 1998 by finishing sixth at the WEG, the approved stallion seemed to be at his lowest ebb in 1999. "The summer dip seems to be over," trainer Johan Hinnemann explained. At the CDI Donaueschingen Coby van Baalen and Ferro placed second twice with scores of 73.52% in the Grand Prix and 76.84% in the Special, maintaining a distance from winner Ulla Salzgeber.

Salzgeber won the Grand Prix with the Russian Rusty of whom the origin is unknown. With her reserve horse Wall Street Salzgeber dominated the Special. The Danish Lone Jorgensen came in third twice with her Baden- Wurttemberger chestnut FBW Kennedy (by Tiro). Isabell Werth, who is taking her final examinations in Law October 18, 1999, excelled in the freestyle with the Hanoverian Nissan Anthony FRH (75.71%).
