The Numbers Are Up! 2011 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales


The National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, presented by Markel Insurance Company, are some of the most highly-anticipated in the western horse industry. This year, the Sales were held September 29-October 1 at the Reno Livestock Events

NRCHA Sale Committee Chairman Sandy Collier reported the final numbers to the NRCHA Board of Directors during the October 11 Board Meeting. Overall, the sales showed strong gains over the previous year. Gross sales were $1,694,750, and that was 2% higher than 2010 at $1,1664,750, with 43 fewer horses.

Overall, the average sale price of $9363 was up 17.5% from $7,965, and the median price rose 42.5% to $5,700 from $4,000 in 2010.

The high over-all seller, Honey Bees, sold in the Select 2-Year-Old Sale, commanding a price of $125,000. The mare, consigned by Eric Dunn and purchased by Debbie Branch, is by Peptoboonsmal and out of Savannah Hickory, and is a full-sister to last year's high seller Savannahboonsmal.

  • Average Sale price $3,728, increased 24% from $3,008 in 2010

  • Gross Sales $503,200 in 2011 compared to $503,100.
  • Average sale price jumped 59% to $8,986 from $5,652.
  • 2011 horses consigned 67 was 32% smaller than 2010 with 120.
