CHIO Aachen 2010 – Breeding and Show Programme on July 16th, 2010 - An exceptional event requires an exceptional press conference. For the first time ever at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, there is going to be a “NRW Draught Horse Day”. This was reason enough for the organisers to already invite along two of the main protagonists in the run-up to the event: The Rhineland draught horses “Emmerich” and “Erdinger”. Hubert Faßbender of the Breeders Association of Rhineland Draught Horses and his wife Klaudia conveyed a lively impression of the “fascination of draught horses” with their pair of draught horses.
Frank Kemperman, Chairman of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), didn’t miss out on the opportunity of taking a test drive with the carriage horses either. How was it? “Super. The draught horses are impressive, extremely powerful and placid animals.” Hubert Faßbender came up with the right answer in reply to the question as to what makes cart horses so special: “Draught horses are cool dudes”. He added that they are docile, relaxed and even-tempered animals that everyone gets on well with. He is immensely looking forward to the Cart Horse Day: “It is splendid that we are being given the opportunity to present our special horses in this environment.”
The NRW Draught Horse Day has an entertaining programme in store on July 16th, 2010 following the motto “the heavy gang is on its way”, both Rhineland-bred draught horses and the heavy horses from the Warendorf State Stud will impress the crowds. The focal point will lie on the theme breeding. For example there will be a stallion and mare show, the NRW winning mare will be elected later on in the main stadium.
As well as breeding highlights, a “family show programme” (Kemperman) will take centre stage. The show performances will range from one-horse carriages, to harvest wagons, through to a ten-in-hand driving team. Of course the tickets for the event (available from the hotline +49-(0)241-917-1111 or online at www.chioaachen.de) are also valid for the sporting competitions, including the highlight of the day: the RWE Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia.
