Nora Luae and Heather Frymark Earn Blue Ribbons

Traverse City, MI- The Equitation classes took center stage today at Horse Shows by the Bay. In the ASPCA Maclay, sponsored by Fox Meadow Farm, Inc and Judy Howard, from Temperance, MI, top honors went to Nora Laue and Parrot Bay.

Parrot Bay is an eight-year-old Hanoverian who was originally intended to be Laue's junior jumper but they turned him into a perfect equitation horse.

"He has been just fabulous. This year we are really starting to come together. I thought the course was well built, it presented some challenges but it overall was good. The flat is definitely one of my strong suits, I love practicing my flat work, and when I practice, it translates into my jumping. He and I work so much better when I do well on the flat," said Laue.

The pair are already qualified for the ASPCA Maclay finals but have never been to Horse Shows by the Bay before and decided to take the trip here.

"I think the show is gorgeous! I just want to pick up the landscape and move it to my backyard, it is so nice," raved Laue.

Second place in the ASPCA Maclay was awarded to Heather Frymark and Wellington. Third was Audrey Layman and Parliament. Fourth was Anne Westbay and Olivier. Fifth was Alexandra Veleris and Cartoon 11. Rounding out the top six was Meg Czerwonka and Leroy.

Following the ASPCA Maclay, was the Pessoa/USEF Hunt Seat Medal sponsored by English Riding Supply of Scranton, PA. Top honors in this class went to Heather Frymark and Wellington.

"He is such a great ride. I think I had a pretty solid test and my first round was very good," commented Frymark.

Going into the test, Frymark was second but was able to move herself up in the ribbons by showing how flawlessly she could present all elements of an equitation test. Riders were asked to trot fence eight, they're original last fence on course. They then cantered a rollback turn and had to hand gallop diagonally across the ring to an oxer. After jumping, riders were asked to trot back to their position in line.

Second in the Pessoa/USEF Medal was awarded to Nora Laue and Parrot Bay. Third went to Rachel Reid and Tomina. Rounding out the top four who came back for further testing, was Alexandra Veleris and Cartoon 11.
