Ninth Annual Challenge of the Americas This Saturday, March 13

Wellington, FL - The 2010 Challenge of the Americas, in its ninth consecutive year as an annual fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, will be held this Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the beautiful International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, FL.

Presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC), the Challenge will get underway at 5:30 p.m. with a four-bar show jumping competition, followed by musical grand prix team quadrilles, and a unique figure skating dressage exhibition held in memory of Ingred Lin, who passed away from breast cancer this year.  The exciting showcase of equestrian sport will conclude with the always popular Challenge Gala, an elegant evening of dinner and dancing.

The 2010 Challenge will once again be showcased on Piaget Field, the main polo field at IPC. Overlooking the field, the venue features VIP Box Seats for Challenge Gala Table Holders and special Tier Seating for General Admission Ticket Holders. All seats have a panoramic view of Piaget Field where the spectacular equestrian talent will be showcased under lights at their entertaining best.

The exciting four-bar competition, sponsored by MatchnRide.com, will feature top horses and junior riders competing over a series of jumps that will gradually increase in height with each round, becoming more difficult to clear. The four-bar competition will be managed by course designer Bobby Murphy with horses and riders trained by Ashland Farm's Ken and Emily Smith. The competitors will include their son Spencer Smith, Jennifer Waxman, Alyssa Mansfield, and Christina Kelly.

The brand new figure skating dressage performance, sponsored by Platinum Seamless, will feature a combination of dressage and figure skating unlike anything seen before. Four figure skaters will perform their graceful moves on ice set on the Polo Club's main field, with horses and riders performing around them. Featured riders will include Mary Ann Grant and Dr. Michael Kohl on their horses, along with figure skaters Julie Mulvey, Curtis Chornopyski, Jenna Dzierzanowski, and Vinny Dispenza from 'Incredible ICE' in Coral Springs, FL.

The feature event of the evening will display musical team quadrilles performed by the "who's who" of top riders in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. This year's United States team, sponsored by Purina Mills, will be made up of Betsy Steiner, Pamela Goodrich, John Zopatti, James Koford, Bill Warren, and Mary Ann Grant.

Team International The Seley Parker Group of Merrill Lynch will include Marco Bernal, Shannon Dueck, Yvonne Losos de Muniz, Lou Denizard, Kelly Layne, and Heather Bender.

SSG Glove's Team Canada will include Stephanie Jensen, Leah Wilson, Chris Von Gartzen, Brittany Fraser, Cheryl Meisner, and Krystalann Shingler.
