In former days, the tests of the third phase of the BWP stallion selection were concentrated in one day. This year, those tests will be spread over 4 days.
As the stallions had to accomplish all tests in one single day, they were faced with a big task, especially the younger candidates. In order to give them more rest, the program has now been spread over four days. That change also gives more opportunities to the selection committee, as it gets more occasions to see and to judge the stallions.
On Wednesday, March 18, the program starts at 14h with the stallions who, for one reason or another, were granted delay at the second phase in Moorsele. Then the stallions Rubens du Ri d’Asse and Don Matcho van de Roshoeve will be presented in order to get their covering licence for this year. From 15h on, there will be a dressage test for the dressage candidates and a jumping test for the jumping candidates; on that occasion, the stallions will be ridden by their usual rider.
On day 2, Thursday, March 19, all candidates will be presented in a riding test under the saddle of 2 riders who have been appointed therefor by BWP.
The third day, Friday , March 20, will be a day of rest for the candidates for approval. In the evening, starting at 18h30, the final of the HC Stallion Competition will be held.
Saturday, March 21, will be the decisive day for this year’s candidates. All stallions will have to undergo a last test under the rider, either in dressage or in jumping.
Traditionnally, on that last day, there is also a selection of new stallions for the Studbook of the Belgian Riding Pony.
