NAYRC Region Team Hopeful, Katherine Poulin

Katherine Poulin is from DeLeon Springs, Florida, but is originally from Maine. Katherine has been riding ever since she can remember. She is currently riding her horse, Herb Commander. "Herb" is a 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding. He was originally owned and bred in New York by Dee Muma, who at one time owned Graf George.

Katherine's father, Olympic Dressage Team Bronze medalist, Michael Poulin, broke Herb Commander at age three. Last year Dee Muma generously gave Herb to Katherine as a graduation gift. Herb and Katherine have been riding together for five years.

Katherine went to Young Riders in 1996 and 1998. In 1998 she was third in the Team Test and placed fourth individually in Parker, Colorado. Katherine would like to attend the University of Central Florida next year or Daytona Beach Community College but stills plans on riding her horses.

Young Rider Teams are required to raise their own funds to reach their goal. Donations for a region's NAYRC team expenses can be tax deductible.
