Mitt And Anne Romney Attend Del Mar National Dressage CDI

The Del Mar CDI is an Olympic Selection Trials qualifier as well as a National Festival of Champions qualifier. The competition brings out owners of the top horse and rider combinations, such as former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife, longtime dressage rider and supporter Anne Romney, who show up to support their riders and horses. The Romneys are part of a partnership which owns Rafalca, ridden by Jan Ebeling.

The Del Mar National Horse Show’s Dressage week kicked off April 24 and ran through Sunday, April 27. It’s sandwiched between Western Week, held April 17-20, and Hunter/Jumper Week, being held April 29-May 4, 2008. The three weeks of competition make “Del Mar,” as the show is affectionately called, one of the most popular venues for both horse-loving spectators and competitors throughout Southern California. Spectators fill the impressive Del Mar Grandstand Arena for evening events during each of the three discipline’s shows in order to get a bit of the flavor of horses and their people.
