The Gold Coast Dressage Finale I and II is a favorite among the club's local and seasonal members as it combines the great weather of Florida in April with two great shows in one weekend! This weekend's show still hosts a strong contingent of FEI riders from in the Prix St Georges, as Diamante Farm's Don Angelo found his comfort zone with Michele Gibson and topping the class with a 72.237%, just above the North American Young Rider Gold Medal Team of Mary Cameron Rollins and Rose Noir with a 71.184%, with Lisa Wilcox and her new mount for 2011, Horses Unlimited’s Pikko Del Cerro HU with a 69.211%. In the Grand Prix Susan Dutta Manette DC had a commanding lead with a 69.574%.
Gold Coast Dressage Association, Inc marks its 28th year this season as a 501(C) (3), not-for-profit organization in Palm Beach Florida. A Group Member (GMO) of USDF, Gold Coast calls the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center home for its shows and plays host to world class Dressage with a strong base of Adult Amateur, Junior and Young Riders during its high season shows. GCDA's premiere show, the Gold Coast Opener CDIW, hosted each January, kicks off the CDI calendar in Florida.
This winter, Dressage in Palm Beach has been marked by some great new FEI Horse/Rider combinations as riders flocked to Southeastern Florida from January through April to compete in both the CDI's and National shows at The Jim Brandon Palm Beach Equestrian Center hosted by Gold Coast Dressage Association as well as Wellington Classic Dressage Series. The facility was also host to the World Dressage Masters CDI5*. Next weekend, just a short drive west to Loxahatchee, Florida at the Equestrian Estates Horse Park the International Horse Sport Invitational and IHS Finals will top off the season presenting the winners of the Blue Hors Series Challenge featuring over $15,000 in prize money, along with the winner of a new Shadow Horse trailer valued at $17,000. This as well as generous sponsors like Back on Track, Schleese Saddlery illustrate the growth of Dressage in south Florida and a team of organizers who rose to the challenge creating opportunities for all to compete in a relaxed and competitor friendly setting.
