Wellington, FL - Impressive performances by Djambo Djokiba, ridden and owned by Michael Klimke, earned the nine-year-old Westphalian gelding recognition in the form of the most recent TheraPlate Peak Performance Award at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. Unusually poor weather conditions have proved a challenge during the Adequan Global Dressage Festival so far this year, but Djambo Djokiba and Klimke persevered, earning impressive scores and first and second placings during both CDI weeks thus far.
The Adequan Global Dressage Festival is a prestigious competition series that draws top riders from all over the world. TheraPlate Revolution Therapy Platforms is a proud sponsor of the show circuit, and has brought its expertise on healing, fitness, and soundness to the competition ring. During each CDI week, the TheraPlate Peak Performance Award is presented to a horse that most embodies TheraPlate’s core principles of peak performance and strength. “He’s very fit, he’s really a powerful horse,” said Klimke of Djambo Djokiba as he accepted the TheraPlate Peak Performance Award. “He has a super work attitude and I’m happy he was chosen to get such a nice prize.” Djambo Djokiba and Klimke were presented with a beautiful ribbon and a commemorative silver plate to represent this latest honor in their trophy room.
Michael Klimke purchased Djambo Djokiba as a very young horse from a farmer in Germany. In explanation of Djambo Djokiba’s unique name, Klimke said, “It’s a character from a German kid’s comic. The breeder used this name because of his kids.” Despite a comic name, the horse’s care is no joke to Klimke. Klimke keeps Djambo Djokiba fit by treating him as the athlete that he is. “He’s trained like an athlete, like a sportsman. He works in the morning and then the afternoon for gymnastics, so he is quite trained.”
