The American Dressage community lost one of it's own, Sharyn Shover, Thursday, January 20, 2000 suddenly and unexpectedly of an aneurysm to the brain. Mother of United States Equestrian Team member Lynda Alicki-Gilchrist and owner of one of America's top Grand Prix horses, Gino, Sharyn was a great contributor to the sport in many ways. An active member of the Georgia Dressage and Combined Training Association, show organizer, and owner of JS Aerie Farm in Monroe, Georgia, she was a selfless volunteer and friend to all who knew her.
Her on-line buddies knew her as WeDressage@aol.com, and she was famous for her jokes, and witty meaningful messages that were sent to her list of e-mail friends world wide.
Memorial services were held on Monday, January 24, and despite sleet and snow, approximately 60 people were in attendance in addition to family members. In a private
family ceremony, Sharyn's imported Friesian, Dutch, was hitched to a cart and carried the cremated remains over the grounds of JS Aerie Farm.
Donations in Sharyn Shover's memory may be mailed to the United States Equestrian Team, Inc. in Gladstone, New Jersey, 07934.
