Patsy Albers, 76, of Chesapeake City, MD one of the nation's best know figures at dressage shows across the country passed away on the morning of October 12, 2012. Patsy was a longtime supporter and Chef d'Equipe of the North American Junior/Young Rider Championship (NAJYRC) Region 1 team. She was also very involved at the prestigious Dressage at Devon where she served for many years as the FEI Event Director. Her expertise also extended into management, officating and something she was honored for several times - volunteering.
In 2010, a unknown patron donated a perpetual trophy in Patsy's honor named "The Albers Award". The award is given to the dressage Chef d'Equipe who best demonstrates the same level of dedication, enthusiasm and team spirit that Patsy has demonstrated throughout her years of service at the NAJYRC.
Patsy's passing was unexpected and she is survived by her husband Robert Albers, 4 children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 4pm at St. David's Episcopal Church , 2320 Grubb Road, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the "USDF Region 1 FEI Young Riders", which may be sent to Lisa Schmidt, Region One Director, 5 Thads Hill Road, Hampton, NJ 08827.
