McKenzie Jenkins with Tsarina Bint RII Continues Her Winning Streak in Junior Division at CDI-W Raleigh/Capital Dressage Classic

At the CDI-W Raleigh/Capital Dressage Classic it's McKenzie Jenkins who is dominating the junior division. The 15-year-old rider, who trains with Tami Crawford, took the win in both Friday's Junior Team Test and Saturday's Junior Individual Test. Jenkins who dominated the Junior division the week before at the Kentucky Dressage Association CDI*, continues her quest for the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships which will be held in Parker, Colorado in August.

"I'm really excited about this," Jenkins said. "The start of our relationship was a little rough, but now she's really starting to go well." The 'she' is Jenkins' mare Tsarina Bint RII. The junior rider has owned the mare for the past three years and said the Arabian/Thoroughbred cross has not been easy to handle.

"She has had her moments of being a bit crazy. But now she seems to be doing really well. And, I think we're beginning to click," Jenkins said. The pair scored a 65 percent in Fridays' Junior Team Test and on Saturday earned a 67 percent in the Individual competition.

Jenkins said she's aiming to compete in this year's North American Junior/Young Rider Championships in Colorado and after her finishes at Raleigh, is quite certain she'll make it to Colorado.

"Hopefully, we'll make it. We're definitely in the top three so the chances are good," Jenkins said. While Jenkins has been busy dominating the Junior Rider division, the Young Rider division has thus far been dominated by Jillian Costello with Kismo. The pair won both the Young Rider Team Test and Saturday's Young Rider Prix St. Georges.
