Wellington, FL - With a crisp nautical theme to their turnout at the CDI jog, 2014 Region 3 Junior/Young Rider Prix St Georges Reserve Champion Mattie Zepernick and Wencenza sailed away with the final ShowChic Turnout Award of the 2015 Adequan Global Dressage Festival season in Wellington, Florida. “They came out with a lot of enthusiasm. You could see it in the way she was dressed and also in how her horse was turned out. It was very elegant and she definitely caught my eye,” said Kelly Molinari of Equiline, who co-sponsored this week’s CDI Jog with ShowChic and assisted in presenting the ShowChic Turnout Award. The ShowChic Turnout Award recognizes horses and riders who go the extra stride in having eye-catching presentation before the judges. Zepernick’s nautical-inspired ‘sailor’ look, with a crisp blue-and-white vertically striped shirt offset with a navy and yellow silk scarf, navy slacks, and matching shoes and belt, was a favorite amongst spectators. “She presented a look that really popped against her horse. They both looked really great,” said Molinari.

The USDF Gold and Silver medalist Zepernick and the 17.2-hand, 10-year-old chestnut KWPN (Contango x Pianza) mare owned by Richard Zepernick, were turned out for the jog in preparation for their FEI Young Riders Prix St Georges Team test, where they smoothly delivered a 62.193 cumulative score before its judges.

The teen, who attended Saint Thomas More Catholic High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was also one of a select dozen Junior/Young Riders invited to participate in the fourth annual Robert Dover HorseMastership Week held in January at the VanKampen arena at the Global Dressage Facility.

“It’s always our pleasure to support great-looking riders and horses,” said ShowChic founder Michele Hundt, whose longstanding support of the dressage community helped inspire her to launch an award that salutes great horsemanship and horse care starting with the jog inspection.
