The Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Selection Trials for 5- & 6-year-old horses for the FEI World Breeding Championships, Verden, Germany, August 3 - 7, 2011 begins this weekend at the Lamplight Equestrian Center, in Wayne, Illinois May 20-22 with the Central US Selection Trial. Then it’s on to California for the Western Region at Dressage at Flintridge, La Cañada-Flintridge, California, May 26 - 29, 2011, wrapping up with the Eastern Trial in Leesburg, Virginia June 3-5, a the VADA/NOVA Summer June Dressage Show. While the trials are for the selection of the qualified horses to compete on the world stage in Verden, in America the ranking list continues to grow on a national level. Horses who have qualified across the country will converge at Lamplight Equestrian Center August 25-28 for the Markel/USEF National Young Horse Dressage Championships. The top five horses who have earned a 7.8 or higher score at the designated selection trials will automatically make the short list for the National Championships, setting the standard for the growth in quality and quality of American owned and bred horses being developed with this program in mind.
