Markel Monday - What Coverage Do You Need When Caring for Other's Horses?

Markel Monday, Markel Insurance, Care, Custody and Control Coverage

If you are in the business of breeding, boarding or training horses for others, consider adding Care, Custody & Control coverage to your Farm owner policy by endorsement.

Care, Custody & Control insurance is meant to cover people who board or train horses or are otherwise responsible for other people’s horses while breeding, showing, or training them. The policy pays sums you are legally obligated to pay to others for death, injury or theft of horse(s) in your care, custody, or control.

When you have non-owned horses in your care, in your custody or in your control, you may be held liable for injury to or even for the death of an animal as a result of your actions, or failure to act, which may lead to a claim against you.

Care Custody & Control exposure is excluded from commercial liability coverage. If you are in the business of breeding, boarding or training horses for others, consider adding this coverage to your Farm owner policy by endorsement.

There are several limits to choose from based on the value of the non-owned horses in your Care, Custody & Control. The limits on the policy include the cost to defend a suit that may be brought against you.

If you would like to discuss this coverage, and go over your current policy, please give us a call, 1-800-572-3286
