Markel Insurance Company Continues NRCHA Corporate Partnership

National Reined Cow Horse Association Sponsor Committee Chairman Bob Avila has announced that Markel Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Markel Corporation based in Glen Allen, Virginia, will continue its Corporate Partnership with the Association.

Markel Insurance Company, the Official Equine Insurance Company of the NRCHA, came on board as a Corporate Partner in 2009, and is also the presenting sponsor of the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, held September 27-29 at the Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno, Nevada. The company also awards an NRCHA Sale Bonus - so every time someone buys a horse, they get a chance to win $500 in Markel Bonus Money.

In addition to the bonus, Markel provides "Fall of the Hammer" coverage to NRCHA members for horses purchased at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Horse Sales. Mortality coverage is provided for the horse's purchase price once the hammer drops and coverage extends 24 hours after the start of each sale. Buyers are able to continue coverage by applying online at or visiting with a Markel representative attending the sale.

Bob Avila shared, "We are so happy to share that Markel is continuing their relationship with the NRCHA. They are truly the best in the business and we are proud of the partnership we have together. They have some of the most knowledgeable staff in the equine industry, and they are always helpful. I don't think there is a better fit than Markel for the NRCHA."

Avila added that Markel Insurance will also be hosting a cocktail reception one evening during the last week of the Snaffle Bit Futurity.

Frank Costantini, a Markel Horse Insurance Specialist since 1995 said, "Markel is very pleased to continue its commitment to the NRCHA. We are also looking forward to working with Parnell-Dickinson to continue the tradition that has produced great NRCHA sales over the years. Markel takes great pride in being the 'Best in the Business' and the membership of the NRCHA certainly lives up to being some of the best horsemen and women in the western horse industry! We are honored to be a part of such a great tradition."
