Markel Insurance, Title Sponsor of the USEF Dressage Young Horse Program since 2005, welcomed new Young Horse Coach Christine Traurig to the program. Both vowed to work together closely to increase the effectiveness of the program and its ability to identify and support young horses and their riders in the United States. “I have known Christine since she and Etienne represented the United States Dressage Team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, bringing home a bronze team medal,” said Dressagedaily's CEO Mary Phelps and a Markel Insurance Specialist. “Everyone on the Markel team is looking forward to working with Christine. She brings a wealth of experience and new ideas to the program.” It was at Arnhem, Netherlands in the year 2000 where Christine participated in the Olympic trial where the USA first participated in the new World Young Horse classes, with Robert Dover and New Tango making it into the final. "I knew then this was a program important to the USA, and strongly encouraged Markel to get involved when the program was beginning to gather momentum."
Markel Insurance has been the Title Sponsor for the USEF Young Dressage Program since 2005. The sponsorship has included the USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage National Championships and the USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection.
“I have tremendous respect for Markel Insurance and its participation in young horse programs,” said Traurig. “The firm has been unwavering in its commitment to these programs, and I look forward to exploring opportunities to strengthen existing programs and create new ones.”
The USEF Dressage Young Horse Program helps identify and recognize outstanding talent and the training of international-caliber horses, and prepares these horses for future careers at the FEI (international) level and participation on U.S. High Performance teams.
