Maplewood Warmbloods welcomes International Dressage trainer Kerensa Muller to their boarding, breeding, and training facility in Middletown, New York. Born and raised in Holland, Kerensa received her strong dressage background at the Dutch Riding Academy in Deurne, Holland, after which she was immediately hired as a Bereiter by Sjef Janssen, the current coach and trainer of the Dutch Dressage Team. It was under his watchful eye that Kerensa started her successful training and show career.
Spending one season abroad at the winter circuit in Wellington, Florida, Kerensa decided to move to the States and continued her dressage education under the tutelage of successful Grand Prix rider and trainer Carole Grant, the former wife of the legendary Chuck Grant. While spending summers in Michigan and winters in Florida, Kerensa managed to earn her Masters Degree in Psychology, giving her an edge in teaching strategies.
After working with Carole for five years, Kerensa ventured out on her own and established her successful training business in Wellington, Florida. Her approachability and teaching techniques make her a sought-after and well-respected clinician in the Southeast as well as in the Midwest. It is especially her psychology background that sets her apart as she uses this understanding of the psyche to improve the communication between rider and horse. "It is important to me that my students go home with a clear understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as their horses', and that they understand cause and effect. With the proper tools under their belt, they are then capable of emulating the lesson whether I am there or not. They learn to think, feel and solve re-occurring problems themselves".
A successful competitor herself, Kerensa continuously strives to improve herself and has ridden with some of the best international trainers and clinicians, such as Ashley Holzer, an Olympian and current member of the Canadian Team; Debbie McDonalds, Monica Theodorescu, Henk van Bergen, Jan Brons, Steffen Peters and many more.
She holds several awards including MDA Awards in FEI level, USDF Bronze and Silver medals, multiple high score awards including those at the Region 3 Championships in 2009 where she also won the Trilogy Best Seat Award.
