Mandy McCutcheon Wins 2010 SWRHA Futurity Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2

Coming in as the last entry in the 45-entry Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2 class of the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Horse Show, Mandy McCutcheon took the Championship on Hidin Gunner with a 73.5.

The 3-year-old mare, by Gunner and out of Haidachino Cherry, was raised by the McQuays. The mare is a half-sister to Mandy's 2007 National Reining Horse Association Non Pro Futurity Champion Haidachino Hollywood, by Hollywood Dun It.

"She's very talented," noted McCutcheon, an NRHA Million Dollar Rider. "This is her second show. We had a little practicing to do today before the actual Futurity on Wednesday, and she got better!"

Thanks to the SWRHA, McCutcheon took home a Montana Silversmiths buckle and a C.R. Morrison trophy, along with a check for $759.

Tying for second place with scores of 73 were Lindsey McCutcheon and Carin Valcich, who each took home $410. McCutcheon piloted Mega Beat, by Marthas Mega Jac out of Back Beat, while Valcich rode Commanderofthetide, by Commanders Nic out of Rip Tide Girl. McCutcheon and Valcich divvied up the prizes, which included a saddle pad from Kyle Tack and a $100 Purina gift certificate.

Built in 1937, the historic Hardy Murphy Coliseum has been a mainstay as an Ardmore tourist attraction. Primarily designed to host horse and livestock shows, recent renovations to the facility have given it the flexibility to host even more events. Along with the space upgrades that allow the facility to stall 500 horses, the addition of air conditioning provides Hardy Murphy with the competitive ability to attract national and regional events. The renovations have resulted in a premier competitive equine facility.
