Wellington, FL - Personally selected as “most fit horse” by TheraPlate Revolution's Chip Kreiling, it was Lymrix, a 2001 American (Leopold Q x EM Felicitous) Hanoverian, that earned the most recent TheraPlate Award at the 2015 Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. Lymrix, owned by Crystal Kroetch, was ridden to the win by Kroetch in the FEI Grand Prix Special. The 16.3-hand bay gelding appeared completely at ease while enjoying being at the center of attention at one of the world's largest and richest international dressage series. No small wonder. According to Kroetch's coach of fifteen years and former Canadian Junior/Young Rider program coach, Albrecht Heidemann of Germany, Lymrix anchored as one of the mounts on Canada's 2011 Pan American Games Silver medal-winning dressage squad.
“‘Just give me a treat’ is all Lymrix has to say,” laughed Kroetch, who is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and is wintering at Lady Jean Ranch in Jupiter, Florida, as she accepted the TheraPlate Award and Kreiling's compliments on Lymrix's fitness. Her award included a silver engraved plate to commemorate her fitness achievements with Lymrix.
“We're pretty conscientious about fitness. He's on a three-days-on, one-day-off schedule just like a human athlete, so the muscles don't get fatigued. Then he gets a twenty-minute hand-walk after workouts to cool the muscles down. He gets a magnetic blanket and ice boots, plus Adequan and Legend to keep it all going, so I'm looking forward to trying a TheraPlate.”
