London 2012 Games Maker Applications Are Now Open!

That’s right, with just under two years to go until the start of the London 2012 Games, applications for volunteer roles are now open to the public.

I’ve witnessed first-hand the incredible impact that volunteers have on a Games. They are the face of the Games and without them the Games simply would not happen. That’s why we’re calling them Games Makers. From stewards to radio operators to athlete escorts, our volunteers will play an integral role in the largest event ever staged in the UK.

If you’re not sure whether volunteering at London 2012 is for you, don’t worry. Applications will be open until midnight on 27 October 2010, so you’ve still got time to decide. Make sure you find out all there is to know on the London 2012 website.

Once you’re ready to apply, go to and click on the ‘Apply to be a London 2012 Games Maker’ button. The online application will take around 30 minutes to complete, but you can save at any point in the process and return to it later.

Games Makers will help turn a good Games into a truly great Games. I hope you will be there with us, making this the greatest show on Earth.
