Lake Placid, New York - Laura Chapot continued her dominance of open jumper classes at the 46th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows, Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC, sweeping both of Thursday's featured events. Chapot, who has won a featured class every day, took the top three places in Thursday's $5,000 High Peaks Resort 1.40m Speed Challenge and the top two places in the $1,500 Sidelines 1.35m Speed Class.
In the 1.40m class, Chapot and her mount Bradberry were the first to try the 12-jump, one-round course designed by Pierre Jolicoeur. She set the mark to beat with a clean ride in 53.536 seconds. None of the remaining entries could match that time and Chapot had the next two best scores, taking second place with a clean ride in 57.469 seconds on Zealous and third with a clean ride in 59.215 seconds on Shooting Star. The only other clean rounds were turned in by Jonathan McCrea who finished fourth on Special Lux with a time of 64.964 seconds and Nick Dello Joio who placed fifth with a time of 71.463 seconds on Pistoya.
In the 1.35m speed class, Chapot took first and second. She won the class on Bec Hugo with a clean ride in 58.822 seconds and finished second with a clean ride in 59.072 seconds on Umberto. Brian Sweeney took the next two places with a clean ride in 65.221 seconds on Society Again for third place and a clean ride in 67.050 seconds on Clearway for fourth.
