Wellington, FL – Ken Smith, the owner and trainer of Ashland Farms in Wellington, rode a six-year-old Holstein named Charleston to the championship in the Baby Green Hunter Division during the first week of the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival. Draper Equine Therapy, makers of therapeutic products for horses and riders, sponsored the Baby Green Division.
Jennifer Smith, of Wellington and Tryon, NC, owns Charleston and imported him from Europe last year. “This was his second horse show and he did great. Our plan is to move him up through the hunter ranks and eventually I hope to ride him in the Amateur Owner Hunters,” Smith said. “So far things are looking good.”
Kat Wojtylak, Product Manager of Draper Equine Therapy, said, “I love to see the young hunters learning to be consistent and doing so well right from the start. There is a great deal of competition in all of the classes at WEF, so my hat goes off to Ken, Jennifer and Charleston for winning the championship during the first weekend of WEF.”
The Winter Equestrian Festival, which runs through the beginning of April, is held at the world-class Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL. The show draws top horses, riders and trainers from around the world.
“We are really pleased to be sponsoring the Baby Green Division and helping to support the caliber of athletes that will be competing during this event,” Wojtylak said. “Our products include saddle pads, anti-sweat sheets, blankets, bandages and wraps, all of which are used by top show horses before, during and after competition. Studies have shown that our products help reduce pain, increase oxygen levels and help balance overall temperature in the body. When the competition is stiff, you definitely want health and wellness on your side.”
Draper Equine Therapy also produces products for riders including T-shirts, socks, blankets, joint support sleeves/wraps, and back belts. In addition, they offer a line of home therapy and spa products including sleep liners, eye pillows, shoulder wraps and blankets.
