Lexington, Ky. – The inaugural $100,000 USEF U25 Show Jumping National Championship presented by the Porter Family, the Jacobs Family, the Jobs Family, & the Keenan Family got underway Wednesday night in the Alltech Arena with the $15,000 Faults Converted competition. Katherine Strauss rode a fast, masterful round on All In to win the first of the three competitions that make up the championship.

Seventeen-year-old Strauss (Southampton, N.Y.) expertly navigated Guilherme Jorge’s track with Katherine Strauss, LLC’s All In. She and the 2005 KWPN gelding left all the rails up and crossed the timers at 68.56 seconds. Nineteen-year-old Eugenio Garza of Mexico rode a smooth, clean round on El Milagro’s Bariano, finishing in a time of 72.03 seconds. He and the 2001 Belgian Warmblood gelding finished the competition in second place.

Rounding out the top three of the competition were 19-year-old Michael Hughes and Christina Fried’s Luxina. He and the 2004 KWPN mare found efficient lines to quickly and cleanly complete the course in a time of 72.88 seconds.

The second competition of the championship, a $20,000 Jump Off competition will take place Thursday afternoon.
