At the end of January 2005, Iron Spring Farm received exciting news from Holland. They were informed that their KWPN that Judgement ISF is now a recognized KWPN breeding stallion.
"When a stallion is approved for breeding by the NA/WPN, the stallion is approved for breeding only in North America and is not recognized as approved in Holland," Meghan de Garay of Iron Spring Farm explained. "This means that Judgement’s foals born in Holland will be put in the main foal book instead of Register A. This is quite an honor for Judgement ISF and Iron Spring farm."
Judgement is the first, and at this time only USA bred and born stallion to be recognized in this way. Normally if a stallion wants to be accepted for breeding in the Netherlands they must be presented to the KWPN Stallion committee in Holland and then if selected they must complete a “short test” so that they can be fully evaluated by the committee, before they are recognized as approved for breeding by the KWPN.
Judgement, ridden by Beezie Madden, has an impressive international jumping record. In 2004 Judgement was ranked 34th on the FEI WBFSH World Ranking List – For Jumping Horses. At the time of the ranking he was the highest placed approved NA/WPN stallion. Since 2001 Judgement under Beezie’s guidance has earned over $400,000 and won numerous Grand Prix show jumping events.
Twice a year the KWPN stallion committee evaluates internationally known riding type stallions for the status as a stallion individually ccepted for KWPN breeding. In order to qualify for this status, a stallion must have an impressive international record, either through his own performance, through the performance of his offspring, or through a combination of the two.
Individually accepted stallions do not necessarily need to comply with the KWPN veterinary requirements (radiographs and endoscopy), but if they did not comply this fact will be announced. This fact is sometimes a reason for the owner not to apply for the status as an individually accepted status.
The individual accrediting of stallions is a continuous process, in which owners and other interested parties can nominate candidates. The below mentioned stallions are now accepted:
