Ottawa, Ontario — Canadian Olympian John Pearce has been named the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for February. During the month of February, Pearce of Stouffville, ON, claimed two World Cup Grand Prix victories aboard two different horses during the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, CA. Riding Son of a Gun, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Forest View Farm, Pearce won the $50,000 HITS Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, on February 13. Pearce had the only clear round to earn victory over 25 other competitors.
Two weeks later, Peace won his second World Cup qualifying event. Riding Alison Moore's Chianto, a 14-year-old grey Danish Warmblood gelding, Pearce edged out eight other jump-off contenders to claim the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health.
“I am very pleased and honoured to receive this award,” said Pearce, who represented Canada at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. “I think I can speak collectively for all the Athlete of the Month winners when I say that we really appreciate CAVALOR’s ongoing support of Jump Canada.”
