Courtney King Dye has announce on her website that she and her husband Jason are expecting a baby due in February. “I'm not a very private person, but I really wanted to just enjoy this alone for a while before making it public. But my clinic season begins this weekend (I schedule all clinics for spring and fall as my body doesn't do well in the winter cold and I want to save summers for Jason) and my enormous belly will make it quite public... I'm pregnant!” Jason and Courtney travelled to Istanbul, Turkey a year ago where she accepted the FEI “Against All Odds Ward” for her work and influence in promoting the importance of wearing a helmets which resulted in National and International rules, saving lives. “When Jason and I were trying, anxiety tainted my desire. I feared feeling like an incomplete mother: I'm not going to be able to dress the baby, do its hair. change its diapers, hold it, and ever even be alone with it. What made me try is simply the realization that regret at not having a child would cause more sadness than would be created by my inability to be able to be completely involved.”
"But as soon as I knew I was pregnant, all anxiety disappeared. It's done, I'm pregnant, and we’ll make it work because there's no choice! Pure happiness is my only companion."
Jason and Courtney found out the sex of their baby during a family celebration where only the cake maker knew the results following sealed envelope provided by her doctor, and making either a pink or blue filling. Visit Courtney’s website to find the gender, and read the rest of the story.
