Jan Ebeling and Ann Ebeling’s Ralfalca put in a near perfect test to secure the top honors in the Grand Prix CDI with a score of 69.596%. Rafalca is a 14-year-old 16.3 hand Oldenburg mare by Argentinius out of Ratine was handpicked for Ebeling by his partner in Germany, Christina Heinrich. When asked if he was happy with his Grand Prix ride today, Ebeling stated, “Yes, I was happy with the ride, but we still had small mistakes which cost us points. For example, we added two extra one tempis and the end of the diagonal line. ” Though the ride was clean and very consistent, Ebeling felt it was not their personal best ride at this level. However, he was especially happy with the final centerline’s piaffe and passage and said, “The mare is so much stronger and more consistent for this level. The test is easier for her now.”
Ebeling’s mares swapped places in the Intermediere 1 CDI class. Deborah Harlan’s Rotspon mare, Rosenzauber 8, who had placed fourth in the Prix St. George leg, won Saturday’s Intermediere 1 with a score of 68.640%. Sandrino, Ann Romney’s Sandro Hit mare out of Stutbuch, placed third in the Intermediere 1 with a 67.763% after having won the PSG on Friday. Both mares put in consistent, fluid rides and dominated the competitive class.
