Jake Telford and Once A Von A Time Mark High NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman Rein Work Prelim Score

The World's Greatest Horseman has become one of the most prestigious titles in the western horse industry, and the contest is held annually during the National Reined Cow Horse Association Celebration of Champions in San Angelo, Texas.

Jake Telford and Once A Von A Time won the Open Bridle Championship at the 2011 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, and with the first half of the preliminary competition, it seems that the NRCHA Million Dollar Rider and the Von Reminic stallion are poised for a finals berth.

Telford and Once A Von A Time, out of Sheza Shinette, marked a 217 in the herd work, and came back strong in the rein work to mark the high score of the rein work prelims with a 226.5! Thanks to sponsorship from San Juan Ranch, Crawford will receive a beautiful Gist Silversmiths buckle and $1,000 for the go-round win.

Telford and Once A Von A Time, owned by Holy Cow Performance Horses LLC of Santa Ynez, California, have a 2.5 point lead in the prelim composite. The World's Greatest Horseman competition preliminaries conclude Friday, February 3, with the steer stopping and cow work. The top ten from the preliminary round will compete in the clean-slate finals, where the Champion will receive a check for $25,000!
