Lake Placid, New York - Laura Chapot continued her incredible hot streak at the 46th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows, Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC, winning the $30,000 Equestrian Services International Jumper Classic. Chapot, who has won a featured class every day including the $75,000 Equine Insurance Services/Great American Grand Prix to culminate the second week's I Love New York Horse Show, won both of Wednesday's featured competitions at the Adirondack Horse Show -- she won the $30,000 Equestrian Services International Jumper Classic on ISHD Dual Star and the $1,500 WPTZ News Channel 5 1.35m Jumper Class on Umberto.
In the Classic, Chapot was one of three to reach the jump-off by riding without penalty over the 14-jump, first-round course designed by Pierre Jolicoeur. She then claimed the win by completing the eight-jump tiebreaker course fault-free in 40.102 seconds. Jonathan McCrea had gone first in the jump-off on Aristoteles V and his clean ride in 41.002 seconds seemed like a tough one to beat, but Chapot and her 13-year-old, Irish Sporthorse mare were able to shave time and claim the win. McCrea placed second and Mattias Tromp finished third on Bloom Z.
"Jon certainly laid down a very tough time to beat," Chapot said, "and I was a little worried that I was a bit slow to the second fence. But I am lucky to have a very fast mare and she was able to make up the time." In the 1.35m jump-off class, Chapot took first and second. She won the class on Umberto with a clean jump-off ride in 37.763 seconds and finished second with a clean jump-off ride in 38.188 seconds on Bec Hugo.
