Wellington, FL - March 23, 2015 - This week, 12 weeks of competition will come to an end with an incredible finale week for The Ridge at Wellington 2015 Turf Tour. The International Polo Club Palm Beach, a perennial favorite among competitors, will host both days of competition, granting riders one last chance to gallop on the immaculate polo turf before the winter circuit wraps up. This will be the ideal opportunity for riders to get out of the ring and brighten up their horses after a long circuit. The Finale Week will take place Wednesday March 25th and Friday March 27th.
In addition to the ever-popular 1.30-1.35m classes with just under $5,000 in prize money up for grabs in the main ring, Wednesday will offer low and medium schooling jumpers in the second ring. Young Jumper Championship Finale classes for 5, 6, and 7-Year-Olds will run concurrently with a second class for each of those ages as well in ring two. The low schooling and 5 -year-olds will run from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The medium schooling and the $3,500 6-year-old YJC Qualifying Finale Class will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The $5,000 7-year-old YJC Qualifying Class Series Finale will run from 2:00-4:30 p.m.
Friday will be the last day of competition for the 2015 Turf Tour. The highlight of the day will be the Grand Prix Finale, running from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. with an award presentation at 4:30 p.m. The 1.40m Grand Prix will offer just under $25,000 in prize money, the largest purse offered by The Ridge at Wellington. With some of the top names during the Tour bringing their most competitive horses, Friday's action is sure to be nail biting. The second ring will offer low and medium schooling jumpers. Exhibitors and staff will enjoy a beautifully catered luncheon generously sponsored by the International Polo Club Palm Beach.
The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour has seen some of the best riders of the winter circuit competing throughout the twelve weeks of competition. Top names including Anne Kursinski, McLain Ward, and Kevin Babington have all shown their support for Nona Garson and George D'Ambrosio's enterprise to bring back traditional quality shows with unrivaled hospitality and incredible competition. At the conclusion of competition on Friday, March 27th, the Turf Tour will name the Leading Rider for the twelve-week series. Current standings have Irish rider Conor Swail at the top of the rankings.
The winner of the Leading Rider Award will receive an incredible prize of an Equestrian International Polo Club Palm Beach membership. This exclusive membership is typically available through invitation only and is highly sought after. Valued at $6,000, the membership starts January 2016 and is good for an entire year.
The Tour is a unique series designed to develop upcoming talent in both horses and riders and provide a change in venue for all riders. The series offers unrivaled hospitality with a relaxed atmosphere as a fresh experience. Exhibitors have all complimented the management, hospitality and courses offered at The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour. Each week the courses have tested both horse and rider alike, asking technical questions with tracks created by renowned designers Eric Hasbrouck and Nick Granat.
The event is approaching quickly, so riders should get their entries in to avoid post-entry fees. Week 12 of the Ridge at Wellington's Turf Tour will take place at The International Polo Club, located at 3667 120th Avenue South in Wellington, FL 33414. The show entrance will be off 120th Street between Lake Worth Road and Pierson Road.
