Bromont, CAN - The Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park, originally installed as the site for the 1976 Montreal Olympic Equestrian Sports, is getting completely renovated to reestablish itself as once again a world class equestrian sports park. The work is progressing ahead of schedule due to the early spring weather the Bromont area had enjoyed since mid March. International Bromont CSI**W is set to be held July 21-25, 2010, and the CSI*** event will be July 28-August 1, 2010.
Leopoldo Palasios, the well known Olympic Course Designer, is the person Roger Deslauriers, President of the International Bromont Horse Show, chose to redesign the entire site. All the drainage in both jumper rings has been changed and established with 30" pipes buried around the entire parameter, the old footing has been removed and is being replaced with new state of the art Sand & Fiber footing, "A La Kentucky Horse Park".
Once finished, the International Ring will measure 100m X 100M, and will include lighting to enable night competitions, with a bank separating it from the annex ring. The bank will have a seating area and the extremities can be used as part of a Derby Course. A new in-gate, in close proximity to the two new sand & fiber warm-up rings, has been excavated through the wooded area between the arena and the stabling area. The entire stabling area has been excavated to include drainage, so that it will be able to handle all the rain Mother Nature might throw at it during the competitions. No more flooded barns or tents!
The VIP building is being renovated and will include two new Judge's Booths and a bridge is being built connecting it with the Center Bank. The bleacher seats are being replaced with modern comfortable seating, "No More Splinters!"
Mario Deslauriers, who grew up here, is keeping close tabs on the work. He is looking forward to including the International Bromont for two weeks on his summer schedule when he returns from the Super League Nation Cups in Europe, along with his fellow top International Show Jumper Riders.
