Inaugural Dressage Show at the Florida Horse Park Kicks Off Dressage in Florida 2006

The Ocala Dressage Presented by The Horse Capitol Digest Show Attracts 300 Rides



The footing is in, the entries are closed, and the stage is set for the first recognized Dressage Show, Ocala Dressage, to be held this weekend at the new Florida Horse Park, January 14 and 15th.


"The Florida Horse Park is very excited about hosting their first recognized dressage competition.” said Shelly Lambert Director of Events. “We are thrilled with the 300+ rides for our first show and are looking forward to a long and dynamic relationship with the world of dressage."

With a full roster of competitors representing all levels of competition, many notable names is dressage and eventing will be competing. Olympian event rider Darren Chiacchia is bringing his top event horses including his Olympic mount, the black Trakhener stallion, Windfall II, owned by Cheryl & Timothy Holekamp.

Ocala residents and well known dressage trainers and competitors Gunnar Ostergaard, and his wife Birgit will also be competing on their own Laurtiz. Gunnar will be riding in the Grand Prix on Saturday on Fran Cross’s Casu Quo, the handsome grey Holsteiner gelding by Carolus. Also competing in the Grand Prix will be Ellie Rawle, who is bringing her Hanoverian stallion Waldaire to Florida from her Watermark Farm in Oxford, PA.

Lynn Palm, riding her new Swiss Stallion Karat HCW, and will also be competing Indian Harvest, and Appendix Quarter Horse. “I have started him in the Dressage ring to support Quarter Horses performing in the approved USDF and USEF shows.” Palm, best known for her work with quarter horses, her partnership with the legendary Royal Lark, and her Palm Partnership Training program, has a television program which is aired regularly on RFD TV.

Riding Hampton Green Farm’s magnificent PRE Spanish stallion Idilio, Pati Pierucci, will be beginning her 2006 campaign, bringing the stallion from Hampton Green’s winter property in Wellington, Florida.

Judges will be Sue Madden Mandas, Marilyn Payne, Jane Hamlin, and Susan Woods. There will be a welcome party on Friday afternoon, from 4-6, January 13th hosted by and Mary Phelps, a Markel Equine Insurance Specialist. Saturday afternoon the Florida Horse Park will host a competitor’s party.
