The International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) is gearing up to host the 2018 IALHA National Championship Horse Show from October 9-13, at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. IALHA Nationals brings together the country’s top Iberian horses and these elite athletes will be showcased in an array of disciplines including dressage, driving, heritage costume, reining, P.R.E. foundation celebration classes, working equitation, and much more.
The judging panel of Jacquie Hill (Indianapolis, Ind.), Wayne Hipsley (Lexington, Ky.), Peggy Klump (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), and Judith Warner (Asheville, N.C.) will be joined by two international guest judges for the Associação Portuguesa de Criadores do Cavalo Puro Sangue Lusitano/the Portuguese Lusitano Breed Association (APSL) and P.R.E. divisions.
Additionally, IALHA is offering $6,000 in total division jackpots this year. Champions in designated classes for dressage, halter, English pleasure, Western, driving, and specialty will be entered into a drawing for that division’s grand prize of $1,000. The Grand Prize winners will be drawn at the conclusion of the IALHA National show. Find a full list of eligible division classes here.
IALHA Nationals offers more than just fierce competition. On the evening of Friday, October 12, there are many exciting events to take advantage of. From participating in an exhibition with your horse and a Spanish Walk competition to supporting the food drive for the Houston Food Bank and introducing your horses to the families and children from the Ronald McDonald House® Houston, there is plenty of opportunity for making Nationals memorable outside the competition ring!
