Friends and supporters of Jennifer Baumert gathered on a hot summer night at Cross Creek Farm on July 10th to help raise funds to support Jennifer's opprotunity to take two horses (Marydell Farm's Don Principe and her own DeWert) to train in Germany with the incomperable classical dressage trainer Klaus Balkenhol. The event was very successful with demo rides, a Pas de Deux, I-I freestyle and the highlight of Jen herself performing her freestyles on both "Prince" and DeWert. Comedian Pam Stone gave entertaining commentary and Carol Lavell provided the relevant points of dressage and Jennifer's efforts in the sport.
Two silent auction items are held over for bidding and they are both terrific opprotunities for dressage enthusiast! The first item is a "Custom Freestyle" KUR by Marlene Whitaker. The value is between $3,000 and $5,000 depending on the level of the Kur. Rider must be qualified at the level chosen and the Kur must be completed before January 2012. The highest bid to date is $1,600.00. This is a fantastic opportunity for some of you to get a super high qaulity freestyle created just for you!
The second item is a custom halter worn by USDF Hall of Fame inductee and Olympic Bronze medalist "Gifted". Gifted (sired by Gribaldi II) made his mark on American Dressage with rider Carol Lavell in the late 80's and 90's. The halter also comes with a written note from Carol herself talking about the piece. So far the bid is $400.00.
