Lexington, KY - Horses and riders representing ten foreign countries and the United States took the first steps in the quest for top awards in The Bourbon International CSI 3*, part of the Split Rock Jumping Tour, when they participated in the FEI Jog. The Jog allows the Ground Jury, consisting of Leslie Brown (USA), Jose Gamarra (BOL) and Jonathan Taylor (CAN), the opportunity to inspect every horse for soundness prior to competing.'
Thirty-seven horses were presented and accepted by the Ground Jury, paving the way for exciting international show jumping competition later in the week. On Thursday, October 6, competition begins at 9:00 am with the $2,000 Child/Adult 1.10 Meter Jumpers, followed by the $2,000 VisitLEX Junior/Amateur 1.30 Meter Jumpers at 11:30am. The feature event of the day begins at 2:30 pm, the $35,000 Hollow Creek Farm CSI 3* Speed Cup.
This international event will showcase the talents of Daniel Blumen representing Columbia, who just scored a victory in the Rolex Grand Prix in New York City's Central Park; US Olympic veterans Peter Leone, Leslie Burr-Howard and Margie Goldstein-Engle; Ireland's Richie Moloney, winner of the $380,000 Douglas Elliman Grand Prix CSI 5* during the 2016 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF); and Sharn Wordley who represented his home country of New Zealand at the Beijing Olympics.
The Split Rock Jumping Tour's Bourbon International CSI 3* runs October 5-9, 2016 and features world class show jumping competition every day, and culminating with the $130,000 CSI 3* Grand Prix Presented by Split Rock Farm on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 pm.
The Bourbon International CSI 3* features Kids Areas a live music stage, two Vendor Villages for exceptional shopping and on Saturday and Sunday, a free West 6th Beer Tasting from 12:00 until 4:00 pm. Admission and parking is free.
