Devon, PA— They arrive decked in feathers, dangled with sugar cubes, adorned with martini glasses, foxes and birds. The entries in the Ladies’ Day Hat Contest at Dressage at Devon are far from ordinary, flaunting everything from high-falutin’ to hilarious. The fifth annual Ladies’ Day Hat Contest will take place on day five of the 34th Annual Dressage at Devon, Friday, September 26th, on the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. All ladies in fancy hats (no baseball caps, please) will be admitted to the show at no charge, and those choosing to participate in the judging will receive a complimentary Blue Tulip bag full of goodies including discount coupons and tickets for the champagne brunch at the show’s Mimosas on the Midway, while supplies last. About 3:30 in the afternoon, the bonnet-bedecked contestants will convene in the Dixon Oval where their unusual headwear will be judged by celebrity judges. Categories may include Prettiest, Most Whimsical, Most Likely to Take Flight, Most Tempting to Take a Bite Out Of and more. The winners will receive fabulous prizes.

Judges for the hat contest will include local mystery writer and Philadelphia Inquirer “Chick Wit” columnist Lisa Scottoline and hat maker to the Dutch Royal Family Boy de Winter. De Winter’s hats are in demand by royals and Olympic dressage competitors alike, and he has been making hats for equestrians at Dressage at Devon for more than a dozen years.

The celebrity-judged hat contest is only one of the exciting happenings at Dressage at Devon. This year’s show will offer top competition, “dancing” to music, special exhibitions, great shopping, educational opportunities and an array of eating options. Dressage at Devon is one of the highest-rated dressage shows in North America as well as one of the largest breed shows in the world, drawing entries from across the United States and Canada.
