The handsome 9-year-old Oldenburg that captured the USET Prix St Georges class shown here with Mary Howard at The Palm Beach Dressage Derby, has been sold. Gucci by Gervantus, was imported from Germany as a three-year-old by Oded Shimoni. Mary Howard found him for student Cindy Snowden, who went from second level to her first Prix St Georges in 13 months. Snowden then went on to earn her USDF Bronze and Silver medal by 1998, all the while building up her business training young horses, and teaching over 30 students.
With her children now 13 and 14 years old, Cindy made the decision to focus on her family. "I never wanted to look back at this time and feel I didn't give 100% to my kids." Her "once in a lifetime horse" was ready to be campaigned, which would require endless hours away from home.
Now Gucci has moved on to make more dreams come true. Gucci's new home is in Texas with trainer Pam Fowler Grace, and now owned by Melanie Fewell. Current plans include competition with Pam, and teaching Melanie the feel of a "once in a lifetime horse".
"I wish them well," Snowden said, "and know I will see him in the Grand Prix ring one day. Even though I will not be finishing what I started, it makes me proud to know he has been recognized as a horse whose got what it takes."
