The Plains, Virginia - Final preparations are being made for The Great Meadow International (GMI), presented by Adequan®. Set to begin Friday, July 7 and run through Sunday, July 9, the sensational event features the only North American leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing competition outside Europe.

Teams from Canada, Great Britain and the United States will compete in the $20,000 CICO3* FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ with national and international riders also vying for $30,000 in the individual competition.

"We are very excited to host the FEI Nations Cup™ again this year. We anticipate a spectacular competition with world-class eventers," said Teresa Condon, director of operations at Great Meadow International. "On Friday, spectators will have the opportunity to attend the GMI for free as part of the "Free on Friday" celebration."

Dressage competiton begins Friday

Gates and the Meadow Market Trade Show open on Friday at 12 noon. At 4:40 p.m., Allison Springer aboard fan favorite Arthur will perform the test ride prior to the start of the dressage competition. Headset rental will be available throughout dressage for enthusiasts to hear expert commentary by international judge Sally O'Connor. Spectators will want to come ringside for the exciting Bareback Puissance class, presented by Morningside Training Farm. The popular event is a high-jumping bareback competition with a $1,000 grand prize. In addition to competition, patrons will also have full access to the extensive Meadow Market shops, showcasing everything for the equestrian enthusiast.
