German Young Horse Championships

The German Training Centre for Equestrian Sports in Warendorf opened its doors yet again for the annual German Young Horse Championships from 2nd till 5th September 1999. With more than 37,000 visitors over four days these "Bundeschampionate" are on of the most visited and largest equestrian events in Germany and the world.

The experienced black Hanoverian mare Wahajama prolongued her championship title by winning the five year old dressage horse class with high-point score 9.6. Rider Holga Finken also won the 3 year old mare and gelding class with the Wolkenstein II son Wildest Dream. World Champion Sandro Hit was almost forced to abdicate by the bay Baden Wuerttemberger mare FBW Lettina, but in the finals the approved Oldenburger stallion by Sandro Song collected a 9.5 mark, which gave him the lead with a 0.3 difference with Lettina. Diddi Keeps Cool, the bronze medallist at the German FEI Pony Championships, gathered a wonderful 9.5 score under Christine Thomas and was proclaimed as six year dressage pony champion.
