Los Alamitos Race Course, Cypress, CA, June 14, 2003 - Salvador Flores' Im Takin Over, who has placed in four allowance races since December 8, hopes to finally get his picture taken this year when he takes on a group of $50,000 claimers Saturday at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Hector Cuevas for Jose Flores, Im Takin Over is no stranger to the winner's circle, as a winner of 11 races in his career. However, the Takin On The Cash gelding has lost his last five starts, including recent encounters against JEH Company and Solar Dash. Im Takin Over will be facing both of those horses in this race.
James and Marilyn Helzer's JEH Company figures to be the one to beat based on his allowance win two outings ago. The First Down Dash gelding finished super in that 350-yard race, covering the distance in :17.74. JEH Company ran even faster in his next start, unfortunately for his connections he had to settled with a fourth place finish to Bobcat Bob. JEH Company covered the distance in :17.73 but Bobcat Bob stopped the clock in :17.46. Alex Bautista, currently the meet's leading rider, will be aboard JEH Company for trainer Blane Schvaneveldt.
Adan Farias will send out Solar Dash from post four in this race. The A Classic Dash gelding defeated $50,000 claimers five races back in addition to winning the Avison Handicap last June. Solar Dash ran sixth to Bobcat Bob in the aforementioned race but beat Im Takin Over two outings ago. Zee Wayne, who has always been tough at this distance, recent winner Get Bugged and Rare News will complete the field.
