Through rain and rain, the sun didn't shine, teams of horses and riders still rode up to the level expected of competitors at Dressage at Devon. In the Dixon ring, over thirty Prix St. Georges entries competed from 7:30 a.m. to after 1 p.m. Riding at 8:10 a.m., Sue Madden Mandas and Whiz Kid scored a solid 64.419. She maintained her top position for many hours and numerous riders. Yet at 1:50 p.m. Marsaelis and Kelley Corrigan entered the ring and rode a beautiful test, scoring the exact same total as Whiz Kid and Mandas, resulting in a tie. None of the seven rides after Corrigan were able to top this tie, so the pair made a victory gallop together. Friday's Prix St. Georges ended with a regal white horse next to an elegant dark bay horse circling the arena in triumph.
