Four Americans Set to Compete in This Weekend's CDI*** Oldenburg

Dressage in Europe is heating up the chilly temperatures, as the busy winter indoor circuit is in full swing. This weekend at the CDI*** Oldenburg there will be four Americans who have been training in Europe. USEF’s Gil Merrick has sent DressageDaily the list of competitions and American riders invited to compete.

Debbie McDonald and Felix have made an impressive Euro debut and are headed back to the USA November 13th. “The training and the showing is always so great and it is sad to be leaving, but there is nothing better than home (USA)! I always love coming and I always love going home! The weather is turning bitter cold and there is even talk about some SNOW! I hope it holds off since we are leaving for our last show on Thursday (CDI*** Oldenburg). Looking forward to going and it should be fun since I hear that Lisa Wilcox and Karin Offield will be there too! I always leave with so much more knowledge and I am so grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way.”

Returning to her old stomping grounds will be Lisa Wilcox with the Grand Prix mare Naomi. Wilcox who lived and trained in Europe for many years is working with her long time trainer Ernst Hoyos. Kristina Harrison-Naness and the PRE Stallions Rociero XV, Debbie McDonald and Felix, and making her European debut, Karin Reid Offield and Lingh will come together at the event due to which runs from November 8-11.

Todd Flettrich and Melissa Jackson have been in Germany training with Hubertus Schmidt, and stay tuned for Nancy Smith Who’s Who update coming soon. Smith and the talented mare Donneur have been honing their skills in preparation for the busy 2008 Olympic selection trial year. British based Kenneth Dyrby and Rholex are hoping to find a slot in at the CDI-W Maastricht, and will be at the CDI-W London in December. Tami Hoag and Betsy Steiner have been in Warendorf, Germany training with Michael Klimke. Sue Blinks and Robin Hood have been training with Klaus Balkenhol and recently competed at CDI Paderborn, along with Flettrich and Offield.

Next on the schedule is the CDI*** Stuttgart, November 15-18, where Courtney King will be competing both Grand Prix horses Idocus and Mythilus/ November 22-25 is the CDI-W Maasticht and CDI-W Odense, November 30-Dec 2 CDI-W Stockholm, Dec 13-16 CDI-W Frankfurt, Dec 19-21 CDI-W London, and CDI-W Mechelen December 26-30.
