First Time Is A Charm For Lisa Arena and Endo Fino

By watching younger Amateur Owner Hunter rider Lisa Arena of Fairport, New York and her fabulous 11-year old gray gelding Endo Fino post an 87 over fences to claim the highest score of the day between the two age groups, it would be hard to believe that this 26 year old was nervous as she headed into the Dixon Oval today for the very first time in her show career.

Lisa describes "Fish" as super-confident. "When I get nervous, he doesn't react to it at all." Working from home doing marketing for her family's business allows this 26 year old to go out on the road and work from shows.  Lisa keeps 9 horses at home, all but one of them retired, including her first pony.  Fish and Majestic stay with Lisa's trainer Amanda Steege at her Ash Meadow Farm in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Having the trip of the day between both age groups really hasn't quite sunk in yet. "I said to Amanda, I'm going to wake up tomorrow and say oh my God I just had the craziest dream! Not only did I win a class, but I won a trophy! It's surreal."

Amanda Steege expresses how much Devon means to her as well. "My family grew up in this area, my mom's family is from Ft.Washington, so I have a picture of my great grandfather showing at Devonin 1912. I feel like the show is a real family tradition and an extra special place for us."
