Fairy tales sometimes do come true, especially when love is involved! For Laura Eyre her dream came true for Valentine's Day. Laura's husband, Chicago Cubs pitcher Scott Eyre, secretly bought her the 9-year old Hanoverian gelding Weltlicht at Dr. Cesar Parra's Performance Farm and gave it to his wife as a present for Valentine's Day.
Laura had visited Parra's Performance Farm the week before with her friend and trainer Melissa Jackson, and got the opportunity to ride the super-talented Weltlicht. She left the farm with the idea of "maybe in a year or two I'll get a horse."
However, her husband Scott decided to push Fate in the right direction and approached Melissa with the idea of surprising Laura for Valentine's Day. Melissa called Cesar and they put together a very special plan.
For a horse loving woman, there is nothing more when horses and romance are combined (in the same package with a big red ribbon round it). True to their reputation, Performance Farm made a show for Laura, dressing up Weltlicht with roses, and babies breath braided in his mane. A big red heart around his neck spelled out "Be Mine". When Laura arrived at the farm, she burst out in tears when her husband presented the rose donned Weltlicht to his wife. Beaming with pride, Scott was impressed with horses can do to a woman; love was in the air and Laura was crying with joy because her dream came true.
Happy Valentine's Day to all Dressagedaily readers!
